Unhinged Wahoos at Lymebees

Game 1;Lester vs Gray; Bees get doubles by Beltre, Cano, Castro and Braun in the 2nd for 3 runs. In the 5th, Beltre hits a 2-run HR. Tulowitzki hits a solo HR in the 7th as Gray pitches a complete game shutout. Bees win 6-0.

Game 2; Wainwright vs Hendricks; Wahoos score 3 runs in the 5th. Bees get a solo HR by Adams in the 5th and tie the game in the 6th with the second run unearned. Both teams would score another run in the 8th and would remain tied until the bottom of the 14th with Cano getting on. A Bloomquest error followed by a single by Yelich and a game-winning single by Valbuena gives the Bees a 5-4 win.

Game 3; Cobb vs Wheeler; Bees score 2 runs in the 1st. Wahoos score single runs in the 2nd and 3rd. Bees get 1 run in the 4th. Wahoos get 3 runs in the 5th with Encarnacion hitting a 2-run HR. Bees get a solo HR by Upton in the 6th. Wahoos get solo HRs by Abreu and Alvarez in the 8th. Bees get a solo HR by Avila in the 8th. Wahoos add 2 runs in the 9th. Bees would get 1 run back in 9th, but the Wahoos win 9-6.

Speakers at Birds of Pray

The Birds were involved in their 3rd consecutive sweep, but this time on the losing end.

G-1 King Felix allowed a single, double & triple, & Rizzo & Kendrick hit back-to-back doubles in the 2nd to lead the Speakers to a 3-1 win, ending the Birds 7-game win streak. Pujols homered for the Speakers.

G-2 Speakers scored three 6th inning runs with Machado driving in two. J. Zimmermann went 8 innings, 6 hits 0 BBs in the Speakers’ 4-1 win.

G-3 Speakers scored 2 in the 2nd on RBIs by Machado & Simmons. Birds got one back on M. Cabrera’s 5th homer. Kendrick doubled in an insurance run in the 6th. C. Headley drove in N. Cruz in the 7th, but Feliz & Familia shut down the Birds to preserve Speakers’ 3-2 win & series sweep.

Unhinged Wahoos at Birds of Pray

G-1 T. Ross struck out 12 & scattered 3 singles. N. Cruz hit a 7th inning solo for the only run in the Birds 1-0 win. A. Cobb went 7 innings, giving up 3 hits & 1 run.

G-2 M. Tanaka followed up Ross’ shutout by giving up 2 hits, 1 BB and 9 K’s. J. Votto capped a 3-run 6th with a 2 run double as the Birds blanked the Wahoos for the 2nd straight game, 3-0.

G-3 W. Myers homered in the 5th for the Wahoos’ first run, tying the game at 1. E. Aybar then led off the 6th with his 1st homer as a Bird, & the Bird bullpen threw 4 innings of 1-hit ball to preserve the Birds 2-1 win & series sweep. Birds stretch their winning streak to 7 games.

Speakers at Devil Dogs

Game 1 – The Speakers light up Stephen Strasburg for the second time this season, scoring 6 runs in the 1st. Although Strasburg turns away 3 walks during the barrage, he doesn’t record an out until Yoenis Cespedes flies out to left as the 8th hitter of the inning. Alex Wood coughs up a pair in the bottom half and a HR to Jacoby Ellsbury in the 3rd, but the Speakers hold on, 6-3.

Game 2 – Anthony Rizzo’s 2-run 1st inning HR (10) gives the Speakers another early lead. Andrelton Simmons’ 2-out RBI single in the 2nd scores Jason Heyward for a 3-0 lead. Brandon Phillips’ 2-run HR and Sal Perez’s solo shot knot the score after 4. Cespedes doubles to start the 5th. He scores on Anthony Rendon’s triple. Even though the Speakers can’t score Rendon, they hang on for a slim 4-3 margin as the Dogs record just one single over the final 5 innings. Manager Williams’ new Bud Norris attire works as advertised, as Bud records his 2nd victory of the season!

Game 3 – The Speakers go 1-2-3 in the 1st against James Paxton, who shut them out on 4 hits earlier this season. This game, the Devil Dogs set off 1st inning fireworks, scoring 3. 2nd inning fireworks add another run. 3rd inning fireworks yet another. 2 more in the 4th and another in the 5th. Down 8-0, the Speakers spring to life in the 6th, scoring 5 times (highlighted by Howie Kendrick’s bases loaded triple) to chase Paxton. Rendon (7) homers in the 7th, but David Wright answers after the stretch with an RBI single. 9-6 to the 9th when Rendon doubles with 1 out. Buster “Hearts Buster” Posey connects for the 6th time this season, but Al Alburquerque settles down enough to retire the next two Speakers to preserve an entertaining 9-8 Dogs’ win.

Lymebees at Arrogant Bastards

Game 1; Bumgarner vs Miller; Bees get 2 runs in the 1st on 5 hits with 2 runners thrown out at home. Bastards get a leadoff solo HR by Andrus in the 1st. Bees get 2 unearned runs in the 2nd, 1 run in the 4th and a 2-run HR by Upton in the 8th. Bastards get a solo HR in the 6th as Bees win 7-2.

Game 2; Wheeler vs Hamels; Bastards score 1 run in the 1st. Bees get a 2-out GS by Upton in the 2nd. Bastards get 2 runs in the 5th on an Ozuna HR. Bees would end the scoring in the 7th with 1 run and go on to win 5-3.

Game 3; Arrieta vs Hammel; Hammel would pitch 1-hit ball thru 6 innings and in the 7th would get pulled after a 1 out error to Lind. Bees pinch run with Braun, who gets a stolen base and Bees go on to score 4 runs in the inning, Arrieta would keep his shutout into the 9th, but would be removed as Bees win 4-0 for a 3 game sweep.
