Stars take Game ONE with a score of 6-4.  WP – Thornburg  LP – Devenski.
Game 2:  Finnegan VS Baumgardner
Stars score quickly in the first with a lead off single by Dyson blowing by Baumgardner’s long lucious locks.  However, no more scoring until the fifth. There was a pitching change made by the Stars during the fourth.  Fifth inning the Stars get a one out homer by Broxton followed by a double by Kemp followed by a single by Francisco Cervelli.  Plating Kemp.  Stars lead 3-0.  Bottom of fifth Beltre leads off with a HR for the Bees but that ends their scoring until the seventh.
Bottom of seventh Lymebees tie the game as Beltre hits another HR, only this time Hosmer happened to be on first.  Score tied at 3.  Many pitching changes later at the top of the TENTH Stars start scoring as Dyson hits a one out single followed by newly acquired Hardy who rips a double down the first baseline.  One out later Yasmany Tomas slams a homer only to have it turned back by Gregerson. Stars close down the Bees in the tenth and Stars win 5-3.  Fun Fact:  Stars used 7 pitchers and Bees used 5.  WP – Givens  S – Lorenzen.  LP – Gregerson.
Game 3: Keuchel VS Fulmer
Top of first with two out Matty Carpenter and HFP each hit solo homers.  Bottom of first Cabrera and Beltre each walk and come around to score on singles by Cano and Franco, knotting the score at two each.

Shartlesville Browns vs. Shooting Stars II

The Browns took on the Stars today in Lewisberry.

Game 1 Miranda v Quintana: The Browns used singles from Abreu, Rodriguez, Maybin and Tomlinson (in his OOTL debut) to take a 2-0 lead in the 2nd. That looked like a good lead as Miranda was cruising, also in his league debut. But then the Stars broke out the long balls. Broxton led off the 5th with one and Inciarte added a 2-run shot to put the Stars ahead after 5. Villar touched ’em all to lead off the 6th to push the lead to 4-2. In the bottom of the 7th Tomlinson rapped a 2-out single and promptly swiped 2nd. Chapman relived Quintana but Dexter Fowler came through with an RBI single to make it 4-3. The Sharts didn’t touch Chapman the rest of the way as he earned a 7 out save. Stars 4/6/0 Browns 3/8/2

Game 2 Tillman v DeGrom: The Stars struck first in the 2nd as Carpenter doubled and scored on a Diaz single. The Sharts knotted it up at one in the bottom half when Kyle Seager singled, went to third on a Pence error and scored on an Abreu ground-out. The Stars hit the front again in the 3rd when Jankowski led off with a single, moved up on a FC and was plated on a Pedroia single. The score was still 2-1 when Corey Seager reached on an E5 to leadoff the 7th. With one out Dozier singled to chase DeGrom. Rzepczynski came in and struck out pinch hitter Brandon Guyer but a highly unlikely triple from Jose Abreu put the Sharts up 3-2 on 3 unearned runs. The Browns pen held up to cement the win. Browns 3/4/0 Stars 2/5/2

Game 3 Cueto v. Lackey: The Sharts got a run in the first on an RBI double from C. Seager but Cueto gave it right back in the bottom on back-to-back 2-out doubles from Pence and Ramos. In the 2nd the Stars used a Carpenter walk and a Diaz triple followed by a Nunez sac fly to make it 3-1. Salvy Perez homered to lead off the 3rd but Villar got that run right back with a lead off job of his own in the 4th. Although the Stars loaded the bases later that inning Villar’s was the only run that scored. The Browns touched up Rzepczynski again in the 5th as C. Seager led off with a single and Abreu followed up with an RBI double. Lorenzen and Chapman locked the Browns to mark the third straight one run game in the series. Stars 4/8/0 Browns 3/7/1

Game 4 Hill v Wright: Trea Turner led off the game with a double and made it 1-0 Browns on a C. Seager two bagger. Dozier walked but the Sharts couldn’t capitalize as the Stars turned a double play. Turner stayed hot by homering in the third and back-to-back doubles from C. Seager and Abreu pushed the lead to 3-0… all before the Stars had their first base runner against Hill. That first runner was a walk by Pedroia in the 4th and the first hit was a double to Tomas to make it 2nd & 3rd. Villar delivered the first run with a sac fly to make it 3-1. Corey Seager stayed blazing hot with another RBI double in the 5th reaching for the 7th straight time over the last two games. The Stars got another sac fly RBI from Villar in the 6th but Hill and Nate Jones dodged a few bullets to preserve the 4-2 win. Browns 4/9/0 Stars 2/5/0

The Browns improve to 11-5 and will take on the Wahoos next weekend and the Lymebees on Monday 4/3.

Notes:

The Browns slashed .219/.254/.352 in a noticeable decrease from their first 3 series (.249/.340/511).

Corey Seager went 6-9 with 4 doubles and drove in 3 runs in 3 games played. However, Jose Abreu was the real star of the series for the Browns, driving in 5 with two doubles and a triple.

The Browns pen worked 10 scoreless innings.

After hitting 18 homers in their first 10 games the Sharts have managed just 3 in their last 6.

The Browns are now 6-3 in games started by righties and 5-2 in games started by lefties.

Speakers vs. Shooting Stars II – Another Perspective

Game 1 Wright vs Colon

Wow is all I can say. Here goes:

Stars get 2 in the 1st on a triple by Dyson followed by a double from Schimpf. With two outs, both Ramos and Carp slap singles. 2nd Inning: Stars get 2 more on singles by Inciarte and Dyson followed by a Schimpf double to plate them both. Top of the 3rd: Stars lead off with a Ramos HR. Carpenter flies out, then both Nunez and Pedroia go back-to-back. Stars take a 7-0 lead.

Bottom of the 3rd: Speakers were not speaking, but their dice were. Six hits, a walk and 5 runs and chased away Wright to close the gap to 7-5. 4th inning: Speakers aren’t done. They get 3 back-to-back singles followed by a big old blast from Betts. That grand slam gives the Speakers a 9-7 lead and the Stars are fuming.

Top of the 5th inning: Stars get a two-run HR from Diaz to tie the game.

Top of 7th: Stars lead off with a HR by Carpenter for a 1 run lead. After singles by Pedroia and Inciarte, Yosmany Tomas pinch hits a 3-run blast following a pitching change. Stars add 2 more runs in the 8th on a 2-run HR by Pedroia.

Speakers get a lead off HR in the 9th, but go down swinging to Chapman with 3 straight K’s. Stars win wild one, 15-10.

Game 2 Arrieta vs Desclafani

Odor jumps on Desclafani in the 2nd with a 3-run HR. Stars get a 2-run shot from Ramos in the 5th to make it close.

Speakers go nuts in the 8th to score 4 runs on 4 hits, even with a HR turned back. Speakers win game 2, 7-2.

Game 3 Hellickson vs Lackey

Both teams are exhausted and the bats show it. Speakers score in the top of the 9th after a lead off double by Rizzo. Stars fail to answer.

Hellickson goes the complete game, only giving up 2 hits. Speakers win game 3, 1-0.

Game 4 Martinez Vs Finnegan

Stars get shelled in this one as both pitchers go the distance. Much different lines on the pitchers.

Speakers club the ball for 12 hits, 9 runs and 2 HRs. Stars only get 4 hits and a solo HR by Pedroia, scoring only 2 runs– both in the 9th inning, both meaningless. Speakers win game 4, 9-2.

Speakers win the series, 3-1.
