Lemonheads at Unhinged Wahoos

Game One – Wahoos win 3-0. Jon Lester fires a rare complete game shut out. His ERA is fatter than big fat Pedro Alvarez. The Internet cracked in half as Lester twirled the gem. Manager Bake McBride credits nothing to Lester yet. Tough love for Lester who had been pounded all year prior. Encarnacion launches a two-run bomb and big fat Pedro Alvarez sent one to the moon for a one-run shot. Heads managed four hits for obvious free mason and Tom Selleck look alike Matt Shoemaker….

Game 2 Wahoos over heads 12-1. Kluber gets it done giving up four hits and striking out 11 but coughing up a bomb to JD Martinez blowing his chances at a complete game shut out. He did get the complete game. Arenado slashed a two-run triple and Gattis went three for three with two walks, a single, a double and a grand salami. Baby miggy Avasail Garcia sailed a two-run shot out as well.

Game three heads over Wahoos 6-4. In a game where a fine young woman kept appearing on the jumbo tron over and over and a cat ran amok on the field, manager Bake McBride did all he could to keep his team focused and not looking at women and cats. With the Heads cruising, up 5-1 after six, the Wahoos stormed back in the 7th to make it 5-4. In the 9th, Longtime Wahoo Tyler Clippard walked Yan “can cook” Gomes and watched as Sandoval and Loney singled to score Yan. The Wahoos go quietly in the ninth as future Wahoo Marcus stroman picks up the win.

Wahoos now 28-21.

Unhinged Wahoos at Speakers

Game 1 – Scott Van Slyke’s 3rd inning 3-run HR (4) breaks a scoreless tie. Each team dents the plate just once the rest of the way for a 4-1 Speakers win.

W – Bud Norris (1-3); L – Danny Duffy; S – Jeurys Familia (4)

Game 2 – Albert Pujols’ 2 singles total the Speakers offensive offense. One other hit rolled in the 9th inning goes for naught against Grade 20 Corey Kluber. The Wahoos score bookends: in the 1st on a 2-run single by Edwin Encarnacion; and in the 9th, on Devon Mesoraco’s solo shot. Wahoos win 3-0 in the Speakers 7th time shut out in 51 games.

W – Kluber; L – Chris Archer (2-6)

Game 3 – The Speakers carry a 4-2 lead to the 7th when the Wahoos explode for 3 doubles, 2 singles and [you guessed it], a Jason Heyward error, to score 4 times and win 6-5. Mesoraco and Pedro Alvarez solos account for the Wahoos first 2 runs. Rajai Davis (1) and Pujols (4) hit solos for the lowly Speakers.

W – Brad Boxberger; L – Jordan Zimmermann (5-4)

Lymebees vs. Unhinged Wahoos

Game 1; Lester vs Bumgarner; Wahooos get a solo HR by Martin in the 1st and a 2-run HR by Mesoraco in the 2nd. Bees get 1 run back in the 2nd on a Ruiz triple and 1 run in the 3rd on a double by Tulowitzki. Wahoos get a 2-run HR by Cabrera and score 3 runs in the 4th. Bees manage to get 3 runs back in the 8th to get the score to 6-5 Wahoos, but the Wahoos would score 2 more runs in the 9th for an 8-5 Wahoos win.

Game 2; Kluber vs Gray; Wahoos get a 2-run HR by Abreu in the 1st. Bees get a solo HR by Yelich in the 3rd and score 2 more in the 5th. Wahoos take a 4-3 lead in the 7th, but the Bees would score 2 runs in the 8th to win 5-4.

Game 3; Gio Gonzalez vs Wainwright; Wahoos score 6 runs in the 1st, including a GS by Mesoraco. Wahoos add 1 run in the 2nd. Bees get 2 runs in the 3rd, 1 run in the 5th and get 2 runners on in the 9th to chase Wainwright, but Wahoos win 7-3.

Game 4; Wheeler vs Cobb; Wahoos score 1 run in the 4th on an Encarnacion double, a solo HR by Alvarez in the 5th, and a 2-run HR by Encarnacion in the 6th. Bees get their only run in the 6th on a Beltre HR as the Wahoos win 4-1.

Lymebees starters give up 7 HRs in the series and finish the First Period with a 24-16 record.

Birds of Pray vs. Unhinged Wahoos

Last years 10th & 11th place teams, both over .500, hooked up for a good series.

G-1 Wahoos got an RBI triple from L. Martin and an Encarnacion SF in the 1st for a 2-0 lead. Birds tied in the 4th on a 2-run N. Cruz homer and took the lead in the 5th on an Altuve single. Wahoos regained the lead in the 5th on L. Martin’s 2-run homer for a 4-3 Wahoos win. A. Miller got the save.

G-2 Wahoos got a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on an A. Eaton single. Birds got 1 back in the 3rd on a R. Gennett single. That was all the scoring as Wahoos win 2-1. A. Miller got another save.

G-3 After both teams scored 1 in the first, both on sac flies, the Birds scored an unearned run in the 4th on a Lagares fielder’s choice & held on for a 3-1 win. Betances got a 4 inning save.

G-4 Wahoos got a 3-run Encarnacion homer in the 1st. The Birds battled back to tie it at 4 in the 6th, with solos from Votto, Altuve & Cruz. Wahoos regained the lead on a 6th inning single by A. Cabrera. A. Miller entered in the 9th with a 5-4 lead & gave up 3 BB, a fielder’s choice RBI by D. Solano and a walk off single by Lagares for a 6-5 Birds win.

Series notes: Birds bullpen 11 IP, 4 hits, 4 BBs, 14 Ks & 0 runs.
Wahoos A. Miller, first 2 saves, 2 innings 0 hits, 0 BBs 3 Ks. Game 4, .2 inning, 1 hit, 3 BBs 1 K, 2 runs.

Speakers vs. Unhinged Wahoos

Game 1 – First batter of the season, Mookie Betts, nearly homers to begin the series and eventually scores an unearned run on Scott Van Slyke’s RBI single. The new look Unhinged Wahoos strike on Devin Mesoraco’s 4th inning 2-out Baltimore Special to take a 3-1 lead.

Andrelton Simmons immediately solos to begin the 5th as the Speakers climb to within a run. In the 7th, Simmons strikes again with Yoenis Cespedes on 2nd for a 4-3 lead. Anthony Rendon almost follows with a 2-run shot of his own yet neither Speaker scores.

With Leonys Martin on 2nd in the 8th, the Wahoo thunder (Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Abreu) pops up and whiffs, respectively. (They would get their revenge later in the series.) Jeremy Jeffress sets down the Wahoos in order in the 9th.

W – Chris Archer (1-0), L – Danny Duffy (0-1), S – Jeffress (1)

Game 2 – 2015 #1 pick Corey Kluber lives up to expectations by firing a neat 3-0 2-hitter to defeat Felix Hernandez. Encarnacion’s 1st inning sac fly is all the support Kluber requires; however, Nolan Arenado and former Speaker Asdrubal Cabrera tack on 7th inning RBIs.

The Speakers roll one walk (denied) and 5 singles, and never touch 2nd base in Kluber’s complete game gem.

W – Kluber (1-0), L – Hernandez (0-1)

Game 3 – Solo shots rule early as Mesoraco clocks his 2nd and Betts strokes 2 in consecutive innings. Jon Lester also walks Albert Pujols with the bases loaded to give the Speakers a 3-1 4th inning advantage.

With Encarnacion and Abreu on board in the 8th, Carlos Gomez hits the top of the wall to knot the game at 3-3. That’s where we stay until the 14th inning!

With 2-away, Adam Eaton doubles and Martin triples him home with the Wahoos’ game winner. Andrew Miller retires all 5 Speakers he faces to earn the victory, 4-3.

W – Miller (1-0), L – Yoervis Medina (0-1)

Game 4 – After being blanked for 10 innings, the Speakers blitz Adam Wainwright for 4 in the 1st, highlighted by Rendon’s bases-loaded walk and Jason Heyward’s 2-run double. With 2-outs and nobody on in the Wahoo 2nd, Jordan Zimmermann flubs a chopper and Pujols misplays a grounder. Cabrera makes the Speakers pay with a 3-run bomb.

Encarnacion and Abreu each go deep in the 3rd following Eaton’s triple as the Wahoos quickly erase the deficit and take a 6-4 lead. The teams trade a single run the rest of the way as the Wahoos write OOTL history, 7-5.

W – Wainwright (1-0), L – Zimmermann (0-1)

Manager Mann’s squad enjoys an official record over .500 for the very first time. Congratulations to the Unhinged Wahoos!
