The Brown headed north to take on the Arrogant Bastards last night.
Game 1: Lester v Santana. The AB’s got 2-out baserunners in the 1st, 3rd and 5th off Lester, but couldn’t deliver the next big hit. Meanwhile the Sharts got lead off hits in the 1st, 3rd and 7th but likewise couldn’t deliver a run. Big Papi led off the bottom of the 7th with a double and was lifted for a pinch runner in Dee Gordon. But 3 successive flyballs to the outfield failed to advance Gordon even one base. Still scoreless in the top of the 9th, Maybin reached on an E4 and Seager doubled to make it 2nd & 3rd with no out. Ramirez then hit a ball to center and both runners tagged. Seager was thrown out at 3rd but Maybin scored what would be the only run of the game. Zeigler Worked a 1-2-3 9th for the save. Browns 1/4/0 AB’s 0/3/1
Game 2: Rodon v Hamels. The Slug-Fest of the series. The Brown scored 4 runs on 7 hits including 3 homers (Calhoun, Reyes & Belt) and were still crushed by the AB’s thanks to homers from Trout, Gattis, Andrus and Piscotty. AB’s 9/9/0 Browns 4/7/0
Game 3: Cueto v Scherzer. The Browns opened the scoring with a Seager solo shot in the 1st. The AB’s came right back with a 2 run job from Papi in the bottom half. The Browns drew even in the 3rd when Ramirez worked a 2-out walk and Dozier doubled him home. In the home half of the 7th back-to-back singles to open the frame chased Cueto. With 1st & 3rd and no outs, pinch-hitter Saladino hit one to RF to score Pillar and break the deadlock, the roll needed to get him at home was 54, so naturally I rolled 53. The Browns gave it a shot in the 9th against Britton when Abreu smacked a 2-out double, but again we couldn’t get the next big hit as Belt k’d with the tying run in scoring position. AB’s 3/7/0 Browns 2/3/0
Next up for the Sharts is a Trip to Hustontown to take on the Bees on 10/22, but we will try to play at lest 2 other series before then.
