Bees Buzz Elims

Game 1: Ray vs Taillon; Bees get lead off HR by Hosmer in 2nd, Eliminators get a bases loaded HBP rbi to start 2nd and would get there first 9 batters on and score 7 in the inning, Bees would get 1 run in 3rd and 2 run HR by Puig in 7thand solo HR by Hosmer in 9th as Eliminators win 8-5.

Game 2: Hendricks vs Bauer; Bees get solo HR by Zunino in 3rd, one run in 5th and Hosmer gets a bases loaded walk in 7th as Hendricks go the distance with 4 hit shut out. Bees win 3-0.

Game 3: Gray vs Bundy; Both teams score 2 runs in first, Bees bat around in 4th and score 5 runs, Eliminators get one back in bottom of 4th, Bees get solo HR by Zunino in 8th and win 8-3.

Lymebees record at 36-30 and looking to schedule.

Stars vs. Lymebees 9/21

Game 1; Kershaw vs Snell; Stars score 1 run in 1st, 4 runs in 2nd on a Garcia 2 run HR, 1 run in 3rd and 4th, Bees could only answer with a 2 run HR by Cozart in 7th as Kershaw goes the distance giving up 2 hits both to Cozart for 7-2 Stars win.

Game 2; deGrom vs Fulmer; Stars tie game in 9th on PH HR by Garcia and win it in 13th on a HR by Marisnick both HR off of Kimbrel as Stars win 9-8.

Game 3; Keuchel vs Ray; Bees manage to tie game at 5 -5 in 8th and with two outs Happ comes in to PH and Devenski changes a double into a HR on a roll of 11 and Stars sweep the series and win this game 6-5.

Bees record at 32-28.

2018 Third Quarter

Bees Sting Wahoos

Game 1; Kluber vs Hendricks; 4th inning for Wahoos get bases loaded with 1 out PB scores 1 run Myers strikes out, Torreyes hits to Beltre who makes error and another run scores and that would be all of the scoring as both pitchers go the distance and Wahoos win 2-0.

Game 2; Sale vs Bumgarner; Bees get HR by Upton in 1st and add 4 more in 2nd including Arcia’s 2 run HR, Wahoos get there only run in 6th and Bees go on to win 8-1.

Game 3; Strasburg vs Fulmer; Bees get 2 runs in 2nd, Wahoos tie game in 3rd and Myers hits a solo HR in 4th, Bees tie game in 5th and get 2 runs in 6th and hold on to win this one 5-3.

Lymebees record at 34-29 and looking to schedule some games.

Lymebees vs Bastards home 3rd and away 4th.

Game 1; Santana vs Ray; Stanton solo first inning HR for Bastards, Bees get a run on single by Hosmer followed by a Puig HR for 3-1 Bees lead after 1, Bastards tie game in 8th on a Sanchez double, in 13th Bastards get a lead off double by Gardner followed by a WP and Hoskins gets the run in and Jansen comes in for a save. Bastards win 4-3.

Game 2; Scherzer vs Hendricks; Bees score a run in first and a second run in 6th, Bastards score 1 run 4th and in 9th with one out Turner doubles and Gardner runs for him, WP by Alexander moves him to third and PB scores him to tie, in 11 Hoskins walks Pillar run for him Clevinger WP him to 3rd and Ozuna sac fly scores him, Bees lead off bottom of inning with a Hosmer HR to tie game, 14th inning with 2 out Longoria doubles, Grandal walks and Gordon singles in the winning run for a 4-3 Bastards win.

Game 3; Lynn vs Snell; Bastards get a 2 out 3 run HR by Pillar in 2nd, Bees get 1 run in 3rd, 2 runs in 4th, in 5th Hosmer leads off with a double and Lynn WP the go ahead run in, Bastards tie game in 7th on a Ozuna HR and Andrus leads off 9th with a HR for 5-4 Bastards win.

Game 4; Fulmer vs Nola; Bees score in 6th on a HB (Pham) and 2 out Trout error, Bastards tie game in 8th, Bees get a 2 run HR by Cozart and win this one 3-1.

Game 5; Ray vs Santana; Bastards get solo HR by Stanton, Turner and Pillar scoring in each of the first 6 innings, Bees get a run in 2nd, Pham 2 run HR in 5th and solo HR by Zunino in 6th as Bastards win 4-4.

Game 6; Hendricks vs Scherer; Bastards get 3 run HR by Turner in 1st, Bees get solo HR by Cozart in 4th and then Bastards get a 3 run HR by Trout in bottom of 4th and Scherzer goes the distance for a 6-1 Bastards win.

Bees manage just one win in series and stand at 32-25.

2018 Second Quarter

Stars (“New Bees”) Host Speakers

Last Monday (August 12th), the Speakers traveled to Lewisberry to close out the first half of the season against the Stars. However, the  series highlight turned out to be Manager Kevin’s new hobby: bees.

Bee-sides, neither team could muster much offense. The bats must also have been “hiving” in the Baker backyard.

Game 1 – Clayton Kershaw and a trio of relievers shut out the Speakers, who have runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out in the 1st. Kershaw whiffs both Cody Bellinger and Javy Baez to close the frame.

Jake Marisnick decides hitting with RISP is overrated and homers (11-1) in the 2nd off David Price. That 1-0 score holds up.

No Speaker reaches 3rd base again until the 9th. With two fast runners at 1st and 2nd and no outs, Baez grounds into a 6-4-3 DP. Kris Bryant fouls out to left to smother the mini-threat.

The Speakers out-hit the Stars 6-3. Anthony Rendon (3-4, 3 D) collects half of them.

W – Kershaw; L – Price (0-3); S – Nick Goody

Game 2 – Buster Posey and Rendon both reach with 1 out in the 1st. Bellinger launches a 3-run HR (8) as the Speakers dent the plate for the first time in the series.

Chase Anderson makes that one swing hold up by going the distance and shutting out the Stars, 3-0. The Stars get two on base twice in the middle innings, but Anderson takes away 3 hits and a walk during those frames to preserve the shutout. The Speakers never get another runner past 2nd.

W – Anderson (4-1); L – Quintana

Game 3 – Rendon singles home Mookie Betts following a triple to start the game. The Speakers string together 3 singles and a walk to plate a pair in the 2nd for — (in this series, at least) — a commanding 3-0 early advantage.

With 2 outs and nobody on in the 5th, Brent Suter throws wildly to 1st allowing Greg Bird to reach 2nd base. Ender Inciarte strokes the Stars’ first hit to put his team on the board for the first time in 19+ innings.

Betts’ third hit of the game leaves the yard (6) in the 7th to re-engage the Speakers’ 3-run lead, 4-1. Suter works around two more errors (Posey and Anthony Rizzo) until he gets the first 2 outs of the 9th.

That’s when Inciarte spanks his third hit of the game, a triple.  Dustin Pedroia singles home the run to bring the tying run to the plate.

The Speakers lift Suter in favor of Roberto Osuna. Matt Carpenter steps in as a pinch-hitter. Osuna prevents a walk (+43), which would bring the winning run to the plate. Carpenter finally hits a harmless fly ball to left to end the game, 4-2.

W – Suter (1-2); L – Dallas Keuchel; S – Osuna (2)

Afterward, all the buzz was about the Stars scoring just three runs, yet still squeezing a win out the series. The Speakers score in only 4 innings, but it’s good enough to swarm two victories to end the half on a sweet note.
