2019 Second Period

Speakers Avoid The Plague

Game 1 – The Speakers use a 2-out Kenta Maeda wild pitch immediately followed by a James McCann passed ball to score Mookie Betts in the top of the 1st. Anthony Rizzo doubles the lead by connecting (2) to lead off the 4th.

A 2-out Betts walk precedes a pair of singles in the 5th. Manny Machado’s 9 plates Betts for a 3-0 lead. A pair of 2-run homers in the 8th by Javy Baez (5) and Juan Soto (3) put the opener out of reach, 7-0.

Reynoldo Lopez (2-2) goes the distance, allowing a Michael Brantley RP single in the 1st and a Paul Goldschmidt 7 to lead off the 8th. Lopez records just takeaways, facing only 31 batters.

Game 2 – Baez clubs #6 to lead off the 2nd. Brandon Nimmo answers in the bottom half with a 2-run double to put The Plague on the scoreboard for the first time in the series.

The Speakers manufacture the tying run in the 3rd on 2 walks, a Kyle Gibson wild pitch, and a Mitch Haniger sac fly. Nimmo loses a walk and a home run, but doubles home Max Kepler in the 4th for a 3-2 home team advantage.

The Plague holds the Speakers to a Haniger double (turned back by Gibson’s +14) the rest of the way. Goldy’s 2-run blast in the 8th clinches a 7-2 series-tying win, the first time The Plague have defeated the Speakers this season.

Mike Mikolas surrenders 10 hits in 6.2 IP and falls to 4-3.

Game 3 – Machado’s first error and Francisco Lindor’s 2-out RBI single give The Plague the early lead.

The Speakers answer immediately as Lindor boots a ball to begin the 2nd. Luis Severino uncorks a wild pitch, Cody Bellinger doubles home Baez for a 1-1 tie. However, the Speakers aren’t done.

Severino walks Omar Narvaez and Juan Soto with 1 away. Betts strokes a 2-run single (10), David Dahl singles home another (7), and with 2 outs, Rizzo clears the bases with a 2-run double. Speakers lead, 6-1.

Ross Stripling retires the next 7 hitters, but Lindor triples in the 4th and Kevin Kiermaier lofts a sac fly to right. The Speakers continue to add on as Dahl deposits a 2-run HR (2) over the fence in right in the 6th.

After stranding a pair in the 5th, The Plague take advantage of an Andrelton Simmons error with 1 out in the 6th. Kiermaier follows with a 2-run blast to match Dahl.

The Speakers pen squashes any hope of a comeback. Speakers win, 8-4, as Edwin Diaz sets down The Plague in order. Ross Stripling improves to 2-1. Speakers take the series, 2-1, and climb back to .500, 15-15.

Basher Stadium Hosts The Plague

Last years regular season champions come up short at Basher Stadium. Juggs take 2 of 3 . Game 1 . Chacin and Gibson face each other both starters go 6 + innings. But Juggs Chacin will Snag the victory. M. Smith started the game off with a lead off single, Peralta HR out got Smith to second. Votto k. But Muncy comes through with an RBI double . ( homerun turned back by +14 Gibson) . Juggs up 1-0 . Juggs will score again in bottom of 4th . Winker lead off walk , Villar PR steals second, Hicks fc gets villar to 3rd . Gennett rbi single scores villar. Dejong k 2 outs , Molina single Gennett to second, Smith rbi single scores Gennett, Peralta fly out ends inning. Juggs up 3-0 . Top 7th Chacin gives up a solo shot to Moustakas, gets Lindor po second, but bregman gets a one out single as chacin fatigues. Chacin pulled . Buchter comes in and gets next 2 outs . Juggs up 3-1 . Bottom 7th Smith gets on error wendle, steals second. Votto singles home smith with one out . Villar gets HBP . Runners on 1st and second 2 outs . Gibson pulled . Grace comes in and gets hick to fly to center . Juggs up 4-1 . Plague threaten rally in top of 9th. Buchter gets lead off moustakas fly right . One out . Oh comes in to face Lindor. Lindor single. Then Bregman walk . Kepner PH for Cain pop out to third. Goldschmidt then grounds out Juggs win 4-1 .Oh gets a save . Plague one run on five hits one error. Juggs 4 runs 8 hits one error.

Game 2 severino will throw a complete game win against Carrasco. Top of 4th plague score 5 runs . Lemahieu walk, Lindor 2b, Brantley walk, moustakas rbi sac fly . Bregman rbi single. Goldschmidt 3 run homer .and that’s all plague will need to win 5-1 . Votto had a solo HR in bottom of 4th. Peralta had Juggs only other hit a single in 6th . Severino had 13 k and only 1 walk. The game had started off well for the Juggs . As smith got to second on a severino error leading off the bottom of first inning. Peralta up : walk turned back , then RP number Smith picked off second. Then Peralta rolls a 9 hit number taken away . Bad omens for that game . As Juggs had only 2 hits and 4 men on base entire game . Juggs had 3 errors to plagues 1.

Game 3: Juggs win via Muncy 2/3 , 2runs , 5 rbi, 2b, HR, and of course a HBP after his consecutive homers ..Sabathia gets a win for Juggs and Chavez goes 3.2 scoreless innings for the save . Final Juggs win 7-3 . After Muncy first 2 rbi homer in 1st , 2-0 juggs . Plague answers back with a Sisco 3 run homer his first hit of the season. Rolled a 66 twice to get it . Dejong finally broke out of his slump. Hits a solo homer to tie it in bottom of 3rd. He also hit a double in 8th. Votto got on base 3 times and scored 3 runs . Single and 2 walks. Voit DH this game went 2/3 rbi walk . Hit a 0 at 44 but got single in second column. Plague 4 hits Juggs 9 hits no errors in game . Maeda takes loss for plague.

The Plague vs. Lymebees

Game 1; Matz vs Syndergaard; Bees score 1 run in 1st and 2 runs in 2nd, Plague get a lead off HR by Cain in 8th and the game ends at 3-1 for the Bees.

Game 2; Gibson vs Freeland; Plague score 2 runs in 2nd, Bees send 11 batters to the dish and score 5 runs in bottom of 2nd, Plague score 2 runs in 3rd and 2 runs in 4th, Bees get a 2 run HR by Yelich in 6th, Plague tie game in 8th and we go to extra innings, in 10th Plague get a run on error sac and another error scores the winning run as Plague win 8-7

Game 3; L. Castillo vs Clevinger; Bees lead off bottom of 1st with a Chapman HR, Plague tie game in top of 2nd, Puig HR to lead off bottom of 2nd for Bees, Plague tie game in 4th and score unearned run and 2 run HR by Lindor in 7th and hold on to win 5-2

Juggs vs. The Plague

Juggs travel Plague for 3 game series. Game 1 Chacin vs Rodriguez, Juggs are down 6-0 going into top of 7th . Nimmo lead off single in first and scores off moustakas sac fly . 1-0 plague. Bottom 4th , chacin hits bregman first batter of inning, two batters later kermier one out 2 run homer , goldschmidt  K’s two outs , McCann walks wendle rbi double, Hamilton flys out to center to end inning 4-0 plague. Juggs finally score top of 7th lead off solo shot by Gennett. 5-1 plague. Top off 8th Juggs have awesome 2 out rally . Muncy single Winker single , Rodriguez pulled and lefty Vasquez comes in to face Hicks . Villar will PR for Winker on first stay in DH spot . With 2 outs runners on first and second, Juggs PH for Hicks with CJ Cron (+5/-4)who is 0-12 coming into this at bat . Cron 9 -single scores Muncy from second. Runners 1st and 3rd now Gennett up Boom 3 run blast off Vasquez +36, ball game tied 5-5 Iglesias ph for Dejong and Ks. Bottom 8th plague come right back and get a PH homer from Lindor hitting for moustakas (he had two sac fly rbi to right field earlier in game ) Buchter is mad he left one hang over plate for his first batter after replacing Chacin. He then gets the next three batters . Plague 6-5 . Top of 9th Vazquez still in to face Molina who flys to right. Then the speedy Smith forces a bad throw by Lindor and gets on first E-6 , plague PH for Peralta-10 vs lefty, with Judge . Plague answer with stammen and stammen Ks judge. 2outs runner on first . Votto walks , Muncy (5) homer turned to double +46 smith and Votto score, villar singles then steals second . Muncy on 3rd villar on second two outs Gennett up going for 3rd homer of game new pitcher comes in Hunter grade 9 +33/+22 and gets the strikeout. Juggs now ahead 9-6 . Buchter starts the 9th wendle flyout, Hamilton K, Nimmo walks , buchter out Hirano in to face Kepler and Ks him for a save Buchter gets the win .

 

Game 2 carasco vs Severino Carasco gets a CG win 5-1 . Votto went 3/4 2runs scored and rbi 2b Plus a walk, Muncy 2/5 run scored 4 RBI double (2nd Homer for him turned back in series ) and a homerun. Villar PR for his 7th SBjuggs had 10 hits to plagues 4 . Game 3 plague pull out a win in bottom of 10th with one out Cain gets a single then steals second and third , lemahieu up Hirano brought in since Oh couldn’t close the deal . Hirano gets a huge K against contact king Lemahieu 2 outs can play deep now but Lindor rolls a 15=10 and Hirano misses it by one column singles plague win 6-5 .wood had started the game for Juggs but was pulled after 4 innings and 5 ER. Maeda went 6 for plague but stammen closed out the tenth for the win . Dejong had a two run homer by Dejong in 4th and Hicks solo shot in 6th . Top of 8th Villar PR for Muncy after he walked and stole second with one out Winker then ground out to second getting Villar to 3rd . Two outs Villar Steals home to tie score 5-5 . Villar now 9 for 9 in SB . Lemahieu 3/5 two doubles two RBI wendle 2/4 with rbi triple for plague . Juggs Record now 7-5

2018 Third Quarter

The Plague Invades Juggs

The Plague sweeps the Juggs at Juggs Park.

Game 1 final is 7-1. The Plague 15 hits; Juggs 3. Juggs then lose two one-run games.

Game 2 – The Plague win 1-0 with Severino’s CG shutout. K Davis, Barnhart and Judge each solo homer in the series.

In Game 3 Juggs have a chance to salvage a win in bottom of the 9th. After only having 4 hits up to the 9th inning, Juggs get 3 in a row off Rivero (Grade 25* lefty).

Down 3-2 Juggs lead off with Michael Taylor. He rolls a 33-5 double, but Taylor’s +1 vs. lefties makes Rivero Grade 24, which makes a 5 a single (7). Taylor on first, no outs. Schoop up, hit-and-run. On a 14 roll, Taylor successfully steals 2nd. Schoop’s next roll is a 22-0 going deep. We hope, but no: a second column single is rolled (7)! A 28 is Taylor’s number to score (54 or less on the dice and he is safe). Juggs make a hasty and devastating decision to send him. Taylor is gunned down by Buxton at the plate when Ed rolls a 63!

One out and Schoop on first. Molina then singles. (Ugh.) 1st and 2nd, one out. Kyle Seager pinch hits for Freddy Galvis and flies to right. Votto now up. Juggs think they have a chance, but Votto’s line drive is snagged by Lemahieu.

Juggs strand 9 runners. In the bottom of the 7th Votto hits into a double play with one out, runners on 1st and 3rd. Votto goes 0 for 5 this game with that GIDP and 2 Ks. The Juggs manager is very disappointed with Juggs’ hitting in the series. Votto only 2 for 12 and Judge didn’t hit until Game 3.

The Plague’s first-baseman goes 1 for 4 with a 2 run dinger. Goldschmidt homers once all three games. The Plague only have 3 homers the whole series.

Will play Steve on Saturday.
