Speakers at Asian Tsunamis

Game 1 – Andrelton Simmons drills a Johnny Cueto pitch for a 2-run home run, his 4th of the season, with 2-outs in the 2nd inning. Stephen Vogt adds his 4th, a solo in the 4th for a 3-0 lead.

Miguel Cabrera gets the ATs close with a 2-run shot off Jordan Zimmermann with 1 away in the 6th. However, the Tsunamis fail to get another baserunner, resulting in a 3-2 final. Each team registers just 5 hits.

Game 2 – With 2-outs and no baserunners in the 1st, Buster Posey coaxes a walk off Wei-Yin Chen. Anthony Rizzo follows with his team-leading 14th HR. The Tsunamis use 4 walks, a pair of singles and a Yasmani Grandal sac fly to take a 4-2 1st inning lead against Jesse Hahn.

The Speakers storm right back in the 2nd with a 4-spot of their own. Kolten Wong’s RBI double and Mookie Betts’ (7) 3-run homer provide the firepower.

Both pens settle in early, putting up zeroes until the 9th. Yoenis Cespedes ropes a 2-out bases loaded triple off JP Howell, who then walks 3 consecutive batters to score a 4th run. The Speakers win, 10-4.

W – Alex Wood (5-5, 3.51); L – Chen

Game 3 – Felix Hernandez has this final chance to even his record in the Speakers’ final game of the season. Unfortunately for the King, he surrenders a tying HR to Khris Davis in the bottom of the 7th for a 4-4 tie. Following a single sandwiched between a pair of walks, Jeremy Jeffress has to retire Starling Marte on a fly to center.

After recording the first 2 outs of the 8th, Jeffress coughs up 5 straight hits, 3 for extra bases. Yoervis Medina doesn’t fare any better. After a walk, single and Dee Gordon bases loaded triple, the Tsunamis have a 7-run inning and pocket an 11-4 win to prevent the sweep.

Posey fittingly slugs the Speakers’ final homer of the season, a 5th inning 3-run blast, his 11th. Grandal lines a 2-run homer in the big 8th for the ATs.

Asian Tsunamis at Birds of Pray

G-1 Tsunamis score 2, top 1 & Birds score 3, bottom 1, capped by a N. Cruz 2-run homer (#8). Tsunamis get 2nd inning RBIs from Marte & M. Cabrera for a 4-3 lead. Tsunamis add several more runs, 2 on a K. Vargas double, to take a 7-3 lead. Birds score 3 in the 5th, with Cruz hitting another 2-run homer (#9) to close the gap to 7-6. Birds scored an unearned run for the tie before C. Dickerson hit a 2-out 10th inning double for an 8-7 Tsunamis win. Tsunamis 1- 4 hitters combined for 11-19 with 5 RBIs.

G-2 P. Hughes (8) threw a CG 5-hitter & M. Cabrera & D. Gordon each drove in 2 in a 6-0 Tsunamis win.

G-3 Tsunamis used a 2-run homer from K. Vargas to take a 3-1 lead. Birds got 5 consecutive 2-out singles to score 3 runs in the 3rd, with Lagares driving in the go-ahead run. V. Worley, Neshak & Street combined to shut out the Tsunamis for the next 6 innings, to give the Birds a 4-3 win.

In a run & gun series, the teams combined for 8 outfield assists, with the Birds getting 6 (Cabrera 3 & Markakis 2). Molina threw out 3 of 5 attempted base stealers.

Tsunamis scored 17 runs on 37 hits. They also drew 15 walks, while giving up 4.

Asian Tsunamis at Speakers

Game 1 – The Speakers make the most of 7 hits by bunching them into just 2 innings. In the 3rd, Chris Johnson’s error extends the inning as Buster “Hearts Buster” Posey strokes a 2-run single followed by Yasiel Puig’s (2) 2-run shot. The Tsunamis cut the lead in half in the 5th thanks to Danny Santana’s bases loaded error with 2 outs. After the stretch, Rizzo’s sac fly and Anthony Rendon’s 2-run double extend the lead to 7-1, the final margin.

Game 2 – The magic quickly dissipates as the Speakers manage 4 singles against Wei Yin Chen. The Tsunamis break the scoreless tie in the 9th when Corey Dickerson singles, Danny Espinosa pinch-runs to steal 2nd and 3rd, and then Drew Stubbs comes through with a sacrifice fly to RF. Tsunamis win 1-0, establishing the 9th time the Speakers have been shut out this season.
W – Chen; L – Felix Hernandez (7-8)!

Game 3 – Drew Pomeranz and friends hold the Speakers to only 3 hits, 2 of which leave the park. Solos by Scott Van Slyke (5) and Danny Santana (2) help the Speakers match Kyle Seager’s solo to the lead off the game and Kennys Vargas’ RBI double, 2-2. In the bottom of the 7th, the Speakers string together a Miguel Cabrera error, a walk and a fielder’s choice RBI to grab their first lead. In the 8th, the Tsunamis send 7 to the plate before the first out is recorded. Steve Pearce’s 3-run HR concludes the string of 6 hits and a HBP. Tsunamis win 9-3.
W – Jake McGee; L – Jeremy Affeldt (0-2)

The Speakers collect 14 hits in the series, half in Game 1. The Tsunamis club 24.

Lymebees at Asian Tsunamis

Game 1; Bumgarner vs Samardzja; Bees plate 5 runs in the 4th. Tsunamis score 1 run in the 5th and 2 runs in the 7th. Bees would get 4 runs in the 8th and Tsunamis get 2 runs in bottom of 8th, but that would end the scoring as Bees win 9-5.

Game 2; Arrieta vs Cueto; Adams hits a solo HR for the Bees in the 2nd. Tsunamis tie the score in the bottom of the 2nd. Bees score another run in the 3rd, and with Avila on second and two outs in the 8th, Castro strikes out but reaches first on passed ball. Beltre follows with a 2-run double for a 4-1 Bees lead. Tsunamis get a 2-run HR by Dickerson in the bottom of the 8th, but Bees hold on to win 4-3.
Game 3; Hendricks vs Hughes; Tsunamis use 5 pitchers in the game. The Bees would score the only run on a Valbuena HR in the 9th with 2 outs as Hendricks pitches a complete game shutout for a 1-0 Bees win.

Lymebees record at 48-28.

Asian Tsunamis at Lymebees

Game 1; Cueto vs Arrieta; Tsunamis get one run in the 1st.  Lymebees get a 2-run HR by Cano in the 3rd and score 3 runs and add 1 unearned run in the 4th to end the scoring. Bees win 4-1.

Game 2; Chen vs Gonzalez; Tsunamis score 1 run in the 1st.  Bees get 3 runs in the 7th with 2 hits and 1 earned run and hold on to win 3-1.

Game 3; Cashner vs Wheeler; Tsunamis score 1 run in the 1st, 3rd and 8th innings. Bees get 1 run in the 3rd and 2 runs in the 4th. With the score tied at 3-3 and 2 outs, Avila gets a single and gets to second on a pitcher error. Cano hits a single to score Avila. Bees win 4-3.
