2015 Second Period

Unhinged Wahoos at Birds of Pray

G-1 T. Ross struck out 12 & scattered 3 singles. N. Cruz hit a 7th inning solo for the only run in the Birds 1-0 win. A. Cobb went 7 innings, giving up 3 hits & 1 run.

G-2 M. Tanaka followed up Ross’ shutout by giving up 2 hits, 1 BB and 9 K’s. J. Votto capped a 3-run 6th with a 2 run double as the Birds blanked the Wahoos for the 2nd straight game, 3-0.

G-3 W. Myers homered in the 5th for the Wahoos’ first run, tying the game at 1. E. Aybar then led off the 6th with his 1st homer as a Bird, & the Bird bullpen threw 4 innings of 1-hit ball to preserve the Birds 2-1 win & series sweep. Birds stretch their winning streak to 7 games.

Game 1; Richards vs Arrieta; Bees score 2 runs in the 1st. Birds get on the board with 1 run in the 3rd. Bees add 2 more in the 5th. Birds get 2 runs in the 6th and Bees get one run in the bottom of the 6th. Birds get one run in the 7th. Bees bring in Holland in the 8th and Birds get a double by Molina and a HR by Davis to take the lead. The Birds add another run in the inning off Holland and go on to win 7-5.

Game 2; Gonzalez vs Gray; Birds get a 3-run HR by McCann in the 3rd. Bees get a solo HR by Cano in the bottom of the 3rd. McCann would sac fly another run home in the 5th and Birds win 4-1.

Game 3; Teheran vs Bumgarner; Birds would get a 1st inning 4-base error by Braun in center field as he runs into the wall and has a 3-game injury. Birds get a solo HR by Markakis in the 3rd and add 2 more in the 4th. Bees get one back in the 5th and a solo HR by Tulowitzki in the 6th to end the scoring. The Birds complete the sweep with a 4-2 win.

Birdseed: During the series, the Birds bullpen had 11 IP, 5 hits, 5 walks, 0 runs, 1 win & 2 saves.

2015 Second Period

Birds of Pray at Arrogant Bastards

G-1 Pitchers Carrasco & Scherzer set the tone for the series. The teams matched zeros for 8 innings, until J. Turner hit a 2-out single in the bottom of the 9th to give the Bastards a 1-0 win. Starters combined for 13.1 innings of 8-hit ball.

G-2 Birds used a 2-run G. Springer homer to take a 3-2 lead. Bastards then jumped on Betances in the 8th for 4 runs, capped by a C. Utley 3-run homer to gain a 6-3 win. Bastards also got homers from Trout & Stanton.

G-3 V. Worley threw 8.1 innings of 3-hit shutout ball, & McCann hit a solo, to give the Birds a 3-0 win.

2015 Second Period

Birds of Pray at Lemonheads

G-1 Molina hits a 2-run HR to help Birds to 3-0 lead. Heads tie at 3-3 on a 2-run double by Panda. Birds score 4 runs in 7-9 innings to win 7-3. Molina had 3 RBIs for Birds.
G-2 Heads build a 4-1 lead thru 7 on RBIs by Sandoval(2), Blackmon & Desmond. Birds fall short on comeback, getting a ph single by Votto & a solo by Prado. Greinke 7ip, 8h, 1bb 3k in Heads 4-3 win.
G-3 Birds get back-to-back doubles from Springer & Davis to go up 2-0, then Heads post 3 capped by a 2-run single by Panda for 3-2 lead. Heads get 3-run homer from Y. Gomes in the 5th for 6-2 lead & McHugh makes it stand up in a 9-4 Heads win. Birds rolled 4 homers vs McHugh (+14 power), who turned back 3 by rolling three 13s. Ross (4-2) 5ip, 8 hits, 6 runs.

Birds of Pray vs. Unhinged Wahoos

Last years 10th & 11th place teams, both over .500, hooked up for a good series.

G-1 Wahoos got an RBI triple from L. Martin and an Encarnacion SF in the 1st for a 2-0 lead. Birds tied in the 4th on a 2-run N. Cruz homer and took the lead in the 5th on an Altuve single. Wahoos regained the lead in the 5th on L. Martin’s 2-run homer for a 4-3 Wahoos win. A. Miller got the save.

G-2 Wahoos got a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on an A. Eaton single. Birds got 1 back in the 3rd on a R. Gennett single. That was all the scoring as Wahoos win 2-1. A. Miller got another save.

G-3 After both teams scored 1 in the first, both on sac flies, the Birds scored an unearned run in the 4th on a Lagares fielder’s choice & held on for a 3-1 win. Betances got a 4 inning save.

G-4 Wahoos got a 3-run Encarnacion homer in the 1st. The Birds battled back to tie it at 4 in the 6th, with solos from Votto, Altuve & Cruz. Wahoos regained the lead on a 6th inning single by A. Cabrera. A. Miller entered in the 9th with a 5-4 lead & gave up 3 BB, a fielder’s choice RBI by D. Solano and a walk off single by Lagares for a 6-5 Birds win.
