Speakers vs. Juggernauts

Game 1 – Roughned Odor’s 4th inning 3-run blast gives the Speakers a 4-1 lead. The Juggernauts chip away for a run in both the 6th and 7th to close the gap.

In the bottom of the 8th, the Speakers record 3 doubles (all turned back HRs) to plate another pair of runs. Good thing, too, because Jose Ramirez slugs a solo shot in the 9th for a 6-4 final.

W – Carlos Martinez (4-1); L – Masahiro Tanaka; S – Roberto Osuna (4)

Game 2 – Mookie Betts (3-4, 2 HR #5,6, 3-RBI, 2-R) keeps pace with the Juggernauts, who score 3 candlesticks. After a 1-2-3 top of the 9th, Will Harris comes in to pitch the bottom half in a 3-3 tie.

Kris Bryant greets the +44 power reliever with a long fly ball that results in a walk off HR. Bryant’s 2nd of the season comes at the right time to avoid extra frames and bushed bullpens.

W – Brad Hand (2-0); L – Harris

Game 3 – The Speakers suffer their 5th shutoat in their last 11 games at the hands of David Phelps. Yadier Molina’s solo in the 5th inning records the only run of the game.

W – Phelps; L – David Price (0-2)

Game 4 – The Speakers get back-to-back doubles in the 1st and 2nd innings, plus a 2-out RBI single from Manny Machado for an early 3-1 lead. Buster “Still Hearts Buster” Posey smacks his first homer of the year in the 4th, but then they put away the bats.

The Juggernauts bat around in the 5th for easily the biggest inning of the series for either team. Paolo Orlando’s pinch RBI single in the 6th ices a 6-3 win and series split.

W – Brad Ziegler; L – Chris Archer (0-2)

The Jugs out-hit the Speakers in every game. The Speakers score 13 runs (an improvement over the last eight games) and manage to split.
